The lines below frame the understanding that ties you to Mr Nelson Movers — an Illinois-licensed household-goods carrier based in Chicago — spanning this website together with the relocation work we carry out. Look them over before you ask for a quote or put us to work, because either move means you are agreeing to what’s written here.
Setting your price, and what could move it
The written price we hand you is assembled from what you tell us — the two addresses, the count of rear-staircase flights, how access runs at each end, any special items, and the date — and it answers to precisely the move you laid out. Since that figure is only ever as accurate as the facts behind it, a real discrepancy on move-day changes the arithmetic: staircases you left out, a destination that shifted, or a load running well past what we quoted are each grounds for us to stop and walk a revised number through with you instead of springing it on you at the curb. Holding a quote does not, on its own, secure your date — the slot becomes yours the moment we confirm it back.
Reserving a date and stepping away from one
The calendar goes to whoever locks it in first. Should your date need to slide or come off the books, hand us as much notice as you possibly can so the gap can go to another household. If a deposit or particular cancellation rules attach to your job, you’ll find them laid out in the written quote or the move agreement — never hidden down here.
Who you’re hiring
We carry ILCC Mover Lic. No. 215588 for moves that stay within Illinois and USDOT/MC operating authority for anything interstate, and every move rolls on trucks we own with W-2 crews on our books. Brokering a job, or shipping it off to a different company, is not a thing we do. What we offer runs across residential and commercial relocation, packing, and storage — reaching through Chicago and Chicagoland, up into the downtown towers, and out past the region on long-distance runs.
What we count on from you
- Lay out the move truthfully — the rooms, the weight, the unwieldy items
- Call out the back stairs, the parking constraints, and anything breakable or oversized from the start
- Line up whatever building clearance isn’t ours to obtain
- Give the crew a clear, lawful path at both the pickup and the drop-off
Claims for loss or damage
How far our liability for loss or damage stretches depends on which protection tier you choose and on the federal and state rules governing it. At no cost, released-value protection pins that minimum to 60 cents per pound per item; pay a bit more and full-value protection takes over. Every claim must come to us in writing, and on interstate jobs the window to bring one generally runs to roughly nine months after delivery.
