What the Crew Handles
The rental gets loaded the right way: the heavy square pieces go down first, the weight is balanced over the axle, and each item is padded and tied off so the whole load holds firm once you’re out on the Kennedy or the Dan Ryan. At the other end, the crew carries it inside, climbs the three-flat back stairs when that’s where it’s going, and sets everything room by room where it belongs. The padding, the dollies, the straps, and years of practice arrive with the crew; the vehicle is the one thing you bring.
When Folks Call for This
Usually it’s a rented truck or pod that needs nothing more than hands on one end or both. Other times you’re driving the move yourself and simply want no part of hauling everything up an Avondale back staircase. Or a pod has shown up in the Logan Square driveway and needs loading tight enough to survive the haul, or a storage unit needs stacking skillfully enough that the entire load actually fits. And often enough it’s just one end, the load or the unload, rather than the two.
Hourly, Clock Run Straight
The rate is by the hour, $135/hr for two movers and $185/hr for three, against a three-hour floor. You’ll get a straight read on how many hours the load is likely to take before we begin, and the meter stays still until the crew is genuinely at work on it, never starting the second a truck pulled out of the yard. Nothing’s padded, and there’s no phantom minimum lying in wait.
